Yoruba Artists
Idowu Abolubode
is about 40 years. Through influences of dancing, drumming and fine art in his early ages he is well trained in this disciplines. He is the former Director of Art of the Adigun Olosun Gallery and Cultural Centre (AOGCC). He is married and has one child.
Wasiu Abolubode
was born in 1975. He is a member of the AOGCC. He is one of the great dancers of Adigun Olosun Cultural Troupe. He inherited his talent as stone sculpturer from his father: Buraimoh Gbadamosi. Wasiu Abolubode is one of the especially creative artists in AOGCC.
Ajibola Adegboye
was born in 1975 as prince. He is a member of the AOGCC in Osogbo/ Nigeria since 1991. He finished as artist from the centre in 1997 after six years intensive training. His techniques in art are: batik, drawing, painting. He is art teacher at the AOGCC, member of the Adigun Olosun Cultural Group and the Ibile Faith Society.
Ige Adubi
he is more than 40 years old. He learnt the art of bead painting and perfected it. His works can be found in the houses of Yoruba art collectors world-wide. He is one of the most popular artists in the AOGCC.
Adebisi Agbede
He is about 50 years old and as such the oldest member of the AOGCC. He learnt the art of bronze works from his father who has already died. Through the AOGCC he innovated his bronze works which have now gained bigger dimensions. He is the music director and teacher of the Adigun Olosun Cultural Group. He is married with children.
Kazeem Agboola
was born in 1977 and is a member of the Adigun Olosun Gallery and Cultural Centre (AOGCC); Osogbo, Nigeria since 1990. He exhibited in U.S.A, Germany and Nigeria. He is the most active artist of the AOGCC. His works can be found in the houses of many art collectors in Europe, Africa and the U.S.A. His techniques of art are: batik, painting, drawing. He is a member of the Adigun Olosun Cultural Group and the Ibile Faith Society.
Rotimi Gbegi
is about 45 years old and member of the AOGCC since 1996. He specialised in sculpturing. The doors of the AOGCC which were designed by him are a testimony of his talent in this field of art.. His works are also objects of Yoruba art collectors. He is a popular member of the Ibile Faith Society and the Adigun Olosun Cultural Group. He is married with children.
Akanmu Ogun
He is about 45 years old and member of the Adigun Olosun Gallery and Cultural Centre (AOGCC) since 1991. His special field is carving in which he was able to develop a very unique and distinctive style. With his art works, he is well represented in private art collections all over the world. He is married with children.
Kasali Oladepo
He is about 55 years and counts as one of the great artists of Osogbo. His father is one of the oldest artists of Osogbo. His main works consists of bronze sculptures. His art works can be admired in museums, cultural centres and renowned art institutions world-wide. He is married with children.
Prince (Babalawo) Adigun Olosun, MA, PGDJ, PGCR
He was born about 50 years ago and is a very known Yoruba artist. He is working as an artist for the past 33 years. He also exhibited on nearly every continent of the world - except Australia. Presently he concentrates more on teaching non-Yoruba and Yoruba artists, he is doing the same as priest. He is founder and moderator of ATR- Yoruba religion site: www. delphi.com/yorubatreligion. He is also the founder and spiritual head of Ibile Faith Online Congregation: www. yorubareligion.org. He is founder and director of IYA DuDu Centre for Yoruba Art & Culture Ostbevern/ Germany and Adigun Olosun Gallery and Cultural Centre (AOGCC), Osogbo/Nigeria. He studied in Nigeria, Germany and United Kingdom.
